Privacy Policy
Face Flapper for iPhone, by Warped Technologies LLC. Effective 6 October 2026; updated 10 October 2026.
- Your photos stay on your iPhone. We never receive them, or anything about the faces in them. In an online Face-off, a small copy of the face you fly goes, through Game Center, only to the players you invited or chose nearby, for that match. Quick Match, with players Game Center finds, never sends your photo: there you fly a drawn face.
- Face controls use the front camera's face tracking only to read a few movements of your face, on your iPhone, while you play. Camera images and face data are never stored or uploaded, never used for ads and never given to anyone (not to us, not to Google). In an online match, only a few expression numbers, never a picture, go to the other players so your bird's face moves.
- The microphone is used only while you record a 3-second crash sound for a face, and that recording stays on your iPhone.
- Ads come from Google (AdMob), and only when you tap "Watch a short ad: keep going from here" after a crash, at most once a run.
- We collect anonymous usage stats of our own to improve the game, tied to a random number, never to you. You can turn them off.
- No account of ours. The Full Game is an optional one-time purchase through Apple; we count the purchase, never your payment details. Game Center (Apple's) is optional. We never sell your data.
Who we are
Face Flapper is made by Warped Technologies LLC ("we"). For anything about privacy, write to admin@warpedtechnologies.io.
Your photos and your faces
- When you take or pick a photo for a face, only the circle you crop (320 by 320 pixels) is kept, in the app's own storage on your iPhone. The original photo is not kept. The names you give faces stay there too.
- To make a face react, the game asks Apple's Vision framework, on your iPhone, where the eyes, brows, nose and mouth are in that circle, and keeps those points next to it. Nothing about your photos or faces is sent anywhere.
- Deleting a face in the game deletes its picture, its points and its name. Deleting the app deletes all of them.
- A photo leaves your iPhone only when you share it yourself (the photo strip or the crash video), and only to where you send it, or as a small copy of the face you fly to the other players of an online Face-off (below).
- Save Image and Save Video add the strip or the video to your Photos when you choose them; iOS asks first. The game never reads your photo library: picking a photo goes through iOS's own picker, which gives the game only the photo you chose.
Face controls: Brows, Tongue, Blink and Puff (the camera)
Face controls are off until you turn them on. When they are on, the game uses the Face ID (TrueDepth) camera's face tracking through Apple's ARKit, on your iPhone, to read a few movements of your face (how far your eyebrows are raised, your tongue is out, your eyes are closed or wide, your cheeks are puffed and your mouth is open or smiling, and whether you are facing the screen), as numbers, so that a raise of the brows, your tongue, a blink or a puff can flap, and so that your photo face in the game can copy your expression while you play. No picture, video, depth map or face mesh is recorded, kept or uploaded: only those numbers are used, and only while you play. Face data is used only to play the game: never for ads or advertising measurement, never sent to us, Google or anyone else, and never sold. In an online match the game sends the other players a few of those numbers (below), never a picture, so your bird's face moves on their screens. "Show us" learns your own movement from them and keeps a few numbers (how much your face usually moves, how big your flaps are) with that face on your iPhone; they are never sent. iOS asks for the camera before it is first used, and you can turn it off at any time in the game or in iOS Settings, Face Flapper.
Your crash sound (the microphone)
With the Full Game, each face can have its own crash sound: you record 3 seconds (a scream, a "nooo!", a laugh) that plays when that face crashes and in its crash video. The microphone is on only during those 3 seconds, after iOS has asked for it. The recording is kept in the app's own storage on your iPhone next to that face, and is never sent to us or anyone else; it leaves your iPhone only inside a crash video you share yourself. Remove it at any time from the same place (Settings, Your crash sound); deleting the face or the app deletes it.
Game Center (optional)
If you are signed in to Game Center (Apple's), the game sends your scores to its leaderboards (Purist and Second Chance, for each way of flapping) and your achievements to Game Center, and can show your friends' scores and start a challenge you choose to send. Game Center shows your Game Center name and picture, never a face from the game: your photos stay on your iPhone. Apple runs Game Center under its own privacy policy; we receive no personal information from it. You can sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings, and the game plays the same without it.
Online Face-off (each on your own iPhone)
- An online Face-off is a Game Center match (Apple's) with players you invite or choose nearby, or, in Quick Match, with players Game Center finds for you (people you may not know). There is no voice or text chat, only six fixed emoji.
- So the others can see your bird, the game sends them, through Game Center, a small copy of the face you fly (112 by 112 pixels) and where its eyes, brows and mouth are, your Game Center name, your taps and your score. With face controls on, it also sends a few numbers about your expression (brows, eyes, mouth, cheeks) so your bird's face moves on their screens too. Never a camera picture, a video, your crash sound or your voice.
- The other players' phones keep these only for the match, in memory, and drop them when it ends. We never receive any of it.
- Quick Match sends less: never a picture of a face, its points or a face's name. Your bird is one of the game's two drawn faces wearing your hat and looks, and the others see your Game Center name, your taps, your score and, with face controls on, the same few expression numbers. Seats nobody takes are flown by the game's own computer players, labelled "Bot". Matching and messages go through Game Center only; nothing reaches us. If iOS Screen Time limits playing with people you don't know, Quick Match is hidden.
- Text an invite makes a room for friends: the game picks a random six-letter code and you choose where to send the link (Messages, for example). The link and the code carry no name, no Game Center id and nothing about you or your face. Anyone with the code can join that room, so send it only to people you want to play with; the room closes after 10 minutes or when you leave. Players in a room see each other's faces as in an invited match. Matching goes through Game Center only; nothing reaches us. If iOS Screen Time limits playing with people you don't know, rooms are off too and Game Center invites still work.
- Invite in Messages sends that room as a bubble from Face Flapper's iMessage app: a picture of your own bird (the face you fly, in its hat), the words "Face-off · tap to join", the code and how long the room stays open, and the face's name if it has one. It goes only to the chat you pick in Messages, sent by you, like sharing a strip; we never receive it. Where the chat can't show the bubble you can send the same invite as one line of text with a link to our site (faceflapper.com/join/CODE), which carries only the code and when the room closes: no name, no id. When someone in the chat taps Join, their iPhone updates the bubble ("… joined ✓"), with the name Messages already shows for them; the game adds no name of its own. Our site's join page stores nothing and sets no cookies.
The crash video and the photo strip
They are made on your iPhone when you tap Share video or Photo strip, from the run you just flew, and go only where you send them. We upload nothing.
Friend challenges, Instagram Stories and TikTok
Every share carries a challenge link with a short random code (for example faceflapper.com/c/K7Q4MXA): no name, no account, nothing about you. So that a friend who plays from your link can earn the Recruiter cap for both of you, the game keeps a random number for challenges in your iPhone's keychain (it is not the stats number, and it stays if you reinstall, so a phone can't reward itself) and sends it to our server only when you first share a link, when you play from a friend's link, and to check whether friends joined. We keep your code, that number, and which two numbers became friends and when; never names, contacts or anything you shared. Sharing itself never earns anything, and Kid runs never take part.
Share to Instagram Stories and Share to TikTok open those apps on your iPhone with your crash video (and for TikTok, the video saved to your Photos and the caption on your clipboard, so you can paste it). Nothing goes to us; what you post there is between you and Instagram or TikTok, under their own policies.
Anonymous usage stats
What we collect.
- What happens in the game: for example "a round ended with a score of 12, in a pipe", "used a photo face: yes or no", "a face was found in that photo: yes or no", "face controls turned on", "watched an ad to keep going", "made a crash video", "recorded a crash sound", "turned the music off", "opened by a friend's invite link", "Game Center sign-in didn't work", "four very short runs in a row", how long a session lasted, and the game's version. Never a photo, anything from it, a face's name, a Game Center name, a recording, or anything from the camera or the microphone.
- How well the game runs: whether it stopped unexpectedly, a short code for a technical error (never its text), and how smoothly it drew while you flew, with your iPhone's size class (small, regular, large or iPad). These are kept only as totals by day and game version, never with the random number below.
- If you buy the Full Game: which product it was, its price and currency, and whether it was a real or a test purchase. Never your Apple Account, your payment details or the transaction itself.
- Some settings that help us make the game accessible: whether VoiceOver, Reduce Motion or a larger text size is on, light or dark mode, and your iPhone's language.
- The country you are in. Our server reads it from your connection and stores only the country; your IP address is never stored.
How it is identified. By a random number the game makes on your iPhone when sharing begins. It is not your name, your email, your Apple Account, your device's advertising identifier or its vendor identifier, and we never combine it with any of these. Reinstalling the game makes a new one.
Your choice.
- In the European Economic Area the game asks you first, and nothing is collected until you tap Share.
- Everywhere else it tells you once, and you can tap Turn off.
- You can change your mind at any time with "Share anonymous stats" in the game's Settings (the gear on the start screen, then Privacy), or in iOS Settings, Face Flapper.
- Turning it off deletes the random number on your iPhone and everything stored with it on our server. Only anonymous totals remain, such as "1,203 rounds on 5 October", which cannot be linked back to anyone. The stats already sent stay in our analytics store until they expire, within 3 months: still without your name or anything that identifies you, left out of our per-player figures from then on, and no longer linked to anything on your iPhone.
Where it goes and for how long. The stats go only to us, on our own server at Cloudflare, our hosting provider, which processes them on our behalf. They are never shared with or sold to anyone else, never used for advertising, and Google's ad SDK never sees them. Detailed records are deleted automatically within 3 months; anonymous totals are kept.
Why (for the EEA and the UK). In the European Economic Area, your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; Art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive). In the UK, our legitimate interest in improving the game: PECR's exception for statistics applies, and you can object at any time with the switch.
Announcements and special days
Sometimes the game shows a short card from us, for example news or one of our other games. It never blocks play, and you can close it. A button on it may open a web page or another of our games' App Store page. Our server also tells the game about special days for Today's flight (a holiday's world, its decorations and its hat). To choose these, the game asks our server with its version, your language and your country, and sends nothing that identifies you.
The Full Game (in-app purchase)
- The Full Game is an optional one-time purchase. Apple handles the payment under its own terms and privacy policy; we never see your Apple Account, your name or your payment details. Your iPhone keeps a note that you own it, so it works offline.
- With Family Sharing, the people in your family group get it too, through Apple. Restore purchases (in Settings and on the Full Game's sheet) asks Apple again what you own.
- We count the purchase in our anonymous usage stats (above): the product, its price and currency. Refunds are Apple's: reportaproblem.apple.com.
Ads, and what Google collects
Face Flapper uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) and Google's User Messaging Platform for consent. There are no banners, no ads between rounds and no ads that play by themselves, and none in your first session. After a crash the game may offer "Watch a short ad: keep going from here", at most once a run; an ad plays only if you tap it. When ads are available in the app, Google's SDK collects the following on our behalf (as declared in Google's own privacy manifest for its SDK):
| Data | Examples | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifiers | the advertising identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking; otherwise identifiers limited to this app or developer | third-party advertising, measurement, analytics |
| Approximate location | a general area worked out from your IP address (never GPS) | advertising, analytics, consent rules for your region |
| Advertising data and product interaction | which ads you saw and tapped, app launches | advertising, measurement, analytics |
| Diagnostics | crash logs, performance data such as load times | analytics, keeping ads working |
Google also uses this data to prevent fraud and abuse. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy. We receive only Google's aggregated reports (for example how many ads were shown and what they earned), not data about you.
Your choices about ads
- Tracking (App Tracking Transparency). The first time you tap an ad button, the game explains what comes next, then iOS asks whether Face Flapper may track you. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", Google cannot use your advertising identifier and shows ads chosen without it. You get the same keep-going either way. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
- Consent where the law requires it (the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and US states with privacy laws where it applies). Google's consent form appears when you first tap for an ad. If you decline, ads are still available but are not personalised. To change your answer, tap Ad privacy in the game's Settings (the gear on the start screen, then Privacy).
- No ads at all. Simply never tap the keep-going button. The whole game can be played without one, and with the Full Game the keep-going comes without an ad.
Children
Face Flapper is a game for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Ads in the game are served by Google, which handles any data collected through them under its own privacy policy. An online Face-off with photo faces only ever connects players who invited each other through Game Center, chose each other nearby, or shared a room's code. Quick Match connects players Game Center finds, with drawn faces only, never a photo; there is no chat in either. Parents can limit Game Center multiplayer (Quick Match is then hidden) and in-app purchases with iOS Screen Time.
Kid mode is an assist for a little one playing beside a grown-up on the same iPhone (wider pipes, two free bumps). It never asks an age and collects nothing extra, Kid runs never show an ad and have no Game Center, and Kid mode is never online.
Your rights
We hold only the anonymous usage stats and the friend challenge records described above.
- Delete them: turning "Share anonymous stats" off deletes them from our server (stats already sent expire from our analytics store within 3 months, without anything that identifies you). Deleting the app deletes everything the game kept on your iPhone, including your faces, your crash sounds and the random number.
- Friend challenges: write to us with a challenge link you shared and we delete your code and its friends.
- Other requests: in the EEA, the UK and US states with privacy laws, you may access, correct, delete or object. Write to admin@warpedtechnologies.io and we will help with any request.
- Data Google collected through ads: use the choices above and Google's own tools at My Ad Center.
- Complaints: you may also complain to your data protection authority.
What we do not do
- No account, no email, no contacts, no precise location. The camera and the microphone stay on your iPhone, and so do your photos and recordings, except the small copy of your face an online Face-off shows the players you picked and whatever you share yourself.
- No third-party analytics. Only the anonymous usage stats above, which you control.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not send your photos or faces to any AI service.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date before the version that needs it is released.
