Common questions

Settings is the gear at the top right of the start screen.

Where do my photos go? Nowhere. Only the cropped circle is kept, on your iPhone. A photo leaves your phone only if you share a strip or video yourself, or as a small copy of the face you fly to the players of an online Face-off you joined. See the privacy policy.

I can't hear anything. Check that your iPhone isn't on silent and its volume isn't all the way down (the game shows a notice for both), and that Music and Sounds are on in Settings, Sound. While your own music or a podcast plays, the game's music steps aside and its sounds play on.

Face controls don't react. They need an iPhone with Face ID, and camera access for Face Flapper (iOS Settings, Face Flapper, Camera). In Settings, Controls, open "Setup, practice and sensitivity", run "Show us" again with your face in good light, and move the Easier / Firmer slider until a practice flight feels right. Tapping always works too.

How many keep-goings do I get? One per run, for everyone, so scores stay fair. Without the Full Game it comes after a short ad you choose to watch; with it, no ad.

What is the Full Game? One optional purchase, yours to keep: unlimited faces and pets, Face-offs on one phone and starting online matches, the keep-going without the ad, your own crash sound for every face, and every new mode as it comes. All 50 worlds and Today's flight stay free for everyone.

I bought the Full Game but don't have it. Tap Restore purchases in Settings (or on the Full Game's sheet), signed in with the Apple Account that bought it. With Family Sharing, your family group gets it too. A purchase waiting for Ask to Buy arrives once it is approved. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Will my progress come with me to a new iPhone? Your faces, bests, streak, Atlas, hats and stickers are saved on this iPhone, and they move to a new one with an iCloud backup or Quick Start (deleting the app deletes them). Your Full Game purchase always comes back: tap Restore purchases in Settings.

How do I record a crash sound? Settings, Faces, Your crash sound (part of the Full Game), then Record: 3 seconds. iOS asks for the microphone the first time (iOS Settings, Face Flapper, Microphone). The recording stays on your iPhone.

Online Face-off won't connect. Everyone needs to be signed in to Game Center (iOS Settings, Game Center) and on the latest version of the game (it says "Update to play together" otherwise). Invite friends with Face-off, Play online, Invite in Messages (or Share invite link), or use Players nearby with everyone on the same Wi-Fi and Local Network allowed for Face Flapper (iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network). Joining is free; starting a match needs one player with the Full Game.

What is Quick Match? Face-off, then Quick Match: Game Center finds 2 to 4 players on the same version of the game, and everyone flies today's course. It's free. Nobody there sees your photo or your faces' names: you fly a drawn face with your hat and looks, and their names are their Game Center names. If nobody turns up within about 10 seconds, computer players labelled "Bot" fill the empty seats. There is no chat, only six emoji. If you don't see it, iOS Screen Time is limiting playing with people you don't know (iOS Settings, Screen Time, Content & Privacy Restrictions, Game Center); invites and Players nearby still work.

How do I change my ad choices? Settings, Privacy, Ad privacy (shown where the law requires it), or change tracking in iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.

How do I turn off the anonymous stats? Settings, Privacy, "Share anonymous stats", or iOS Settings, Face Flapper. Turning them off deletes what was shared from our server.

How do I delete my faces? Settings, Faces and pets: open a face and delete it (its picture, name, bests and crash sound go with it). Deleting the app deletes everything the game kept.
